REQUEST
AC and Jimi B on the Rockin Ray Micheals Show |
The year
was 1966 if my mush of a brain recalls and excitement was in
the air. My new band, The Death, was scheduled to open for none
other than the king of soul, Mr. James Brown and the Famous Flames.
It would be an unusual line-up. The Death was like a psychedelic
in-your-face type of a band and The Flames were as tight as a
cork in a bottle of Chateau Palmer Bordeaux wine. Nevertheless,
we felt like we were pros. Our dressing room had the sweet sent
of jock essence and the different names carved in the old wooden
benches gave me a deja vu of my hockey days. I was sitting waiting
for the stage manager to come and give us the cue when the man
himself walked by. Noticing me, he stopped and asked, "you
know where our dressing room is brother?" Ah, ah yeah, it's
the one right across from the restrooms", I replied. "You
must be the opening act," he said. "Yes sir, we are",
I answered. "Sir? Come now, call me James." Wow, James
Brown asked me to call him James. It might seem odd but, to a
14 year-old kid, being in the same room with one of the most
famous musician entertainers in the world was a moving experience.
The crowd was kind and tried to understand why a group like ours
was opening for an R&B icon. We played our 45 minutes to
polite applauses, but it was apparent that they were there for
"the man". After the show, as I sat in my dressing
room with sweat pouring down my face, James walked in. He shook
my hand and said, "you boys rock". Years later, while
performing at The Roxy in Hollywood, James happened to be sitting
outside the club in a white limo. Our bass player, Kelvin, knocked
on his car window and told him an old friend of his was inside
the Rainbow Room. His curiosity led him to come in and see who
this old friend was. I watched him approach the table where we
were feasting on the famous pizza for which the Rainbow Room
was known, followed by four very large body guards. As I introduced
him to everyone, he looked at my brother-in-law Gary and said
"aren't you that guy from Alien Nation?" He then sat
down, had some pizza and proceeded to bring up that gig at The
Mimocombo. |

ST. CATHERINES ONT.We have been receiving
many emails over the past couple of years of people inquiring
about a concert where Rush shared the same bill with Abraham's
Children in St. Catherines Ontario. Laura Secord High School
was the place and our research found that not only AC and Rush
performed at this benefit gig, but a list of top names filled
the auditorium. We have learned that bands like April Wine, Thundermug,
The Stampeders, Lighthouse, Moxy and perhaps others gave their
time to this chartible event. The concert was promoted by Canadain
Bandstand, a teen show that brought the live music of many top
Canadian performers to the television airwaves. This show in
particular was thought to be a collection of super bands of that
era. The all day affair brought the superstars together to contribute
their music to help raise money for a cause which we are still
trying to determine. The high school auditorium was filled with
enthusiastic teens sharing and giving. Although very little was
documented about this concert we believe that someone out in
the cyber world will read this and reply telling us they have
rare footage....good luck. |

Jimi B - Through
The Eyes Of Vincenzo - BNO1022 This is the first cd that mr.
B put out since his move to Cali. Some pretty impressive songs
and playing by his band that included, the late Kelvin Womack
on bass and backing vocals, Vinnie DeFloria on guitar, Dave Valdez
on drums, Robert Hoelting on keys and backing vocals, Jimi on
vocals, acoustic guitar, bass and piano. With some additional
players. Bob Feldman on bass, Mike Cherney on guitars, Gregg
Fisher guitar. " Dark Side " was one of the most downloaded
songs on mp3 and number one for 19 weeks on stationmp3. Other
cuts included are " Don't Close Your Eyes " "
Sempre " my favorite " 1965 " a recollection of
Jimi growing up and seeing the Beatles " Radio Tree "
umm. This is a great effort for Jimi and should do well. Recorded
at Studio 9 Los Angeles, and SRO Studios, Fontana, California |

Jimi B - Best Of Jimi B - BNO-1020 This is a
fun cd full of experiments and songs that have never been released.
When we spoke to Jimi he said this was a great project to let
his hair down. Some funny interviews and comments about the songs.
" There are some cuts that were live in the studio, when
I say live I mean no overdubs just basic bed tracks." Some
of the songs were recorded at Cottingham Studios a funky place.
The engineer was Tom Atom an awesome set of ears. There are a
few familiar cuts on this cd and the fans should find it entertaining.
Call My Number nice sax solo, It's Good It's Funky But It's White
this song is the B side and instrumental. When Angel recorded
the song they had lyrics on the A side. Winning Side is a great
song you can still hear the scratches that were left on purpose
to retain it's original format.... This cd features some greatn
players Recorded in few studios in Toronto and New York. I I
like stuff thyat hasn't been over saturated by self indulgent
over enthused musicians. Jimi said it definitely is not the best
of. Well a little best of. Awesome cd for the connoisseur of
fine music. |

Natopus
- Transition
- BNO -1985 This is what some people might call a new age cd.
Well it is. When Jimi first moved to Los Angeles he hooked up
with a musician named Bob Slap. Bob had been working with Valley
Of The Sun a label that specialized in new age music and
self help products. Slap asked Jimi if he would like to help
him with a project,...many albums later. Jimi was asked by the
Dick Sutphen president of the company to produce something on
his own. Natopus was born. This cd has sold extremely well in
Japan over the years. The music was also used in many Lamaze
classes in hospitals in the California area. Not everyones cup
of tea. Sure is interesting what Jimi can come up with. Recorded
at Horizon Studios in Malibu, California |

Abraham's
Children -
Time - BNO 3001 This is the only album that AC would release.
This classic piece of Canadiana musical art is still as fresh
today as it was when it was originally released. It is the ultimate
bubble gum trophy. The album put out three hits "Goodbye
Farewell" "Gypsy" and "Thank You" all
these songs charted well and a couple of them went to number
one in many major markets. BNO has remastered this with the help
of Garwood Wallace in Toronto, Canada. The sound is awesome.
This remains to be a big seller and anyone that ever had the
album should definitely get this classic cd. Big strings tight
harmonies and some incredible playing. Although the band was
considered a commercial success, songs like "Workin For
The Man" "Woman O Woman" are as heavy as heavy
can be, do not underestimate the power of pop. |

Jimi B Jimi B - BNO-9069
When Jimi started the production of this album he made sure he
had some of the best players on the session. He recruited Prakash
John on bass who is well known for that famous bass line on Take
A Walk On The Wild Side with Lou Reed. He
recorded for many great artists and spent many years as the bass
player for Alice Cooper.Today Prakash has his own band called
The Lincolns. Mike Sloski is perhaps the hottest studio and live
drummers working today. He worked with BB Gabor for many years.
Rob Guseve on keyboards just listen to Wickless Dynamite and
we need say no more. Peter Follett on guitar check out All American
Boy for a classic rock n roll lead. Other guests include Jody
Colero on keys, Kevin Bell guitar, Paul Massey on that great
trumpet line, Cathy Young backing vocals. Engineered by Steve
Vaughan, asst. engineer Paul Massey. Recorded at Masters Workshop,
Toronto Canada. |

POP ROMANTICO - Fans will be excited to hear that
Jimi Bertucci has been busy preparing for a new CD. Bertucci
is the founding member of Canadian band, Abraham's Children,
a group that had a string of hits in the 70's. The prolific singer
songwriter has been in Hollywood for the last little while writing
new songs. We met up with him recently in an L.A. recording studio
and asked him about his new project. "I consider this CD
to be a bit of a departure for me. I've written all genres of
music but lately I find myself drawn to composing love ballads."
The new CD, appropriately called "Pop Romantico", will
only be available for purchase early next year on the website........"I
Wasn't Searching" " Love Will Never Die" "Get
Hipnotized" " Yesterday Once More" "Some
Things Last Forever" and so many more. |

Best Of Abraham's
Children -
BNO 2001 Every band has to put out a best of cd. I never understood
that. Considering they always have more best material. So here
is the best of AC. This is basically the Time album with a couple
of added songs. Although the nice additions of " Christina
" I Do " " Strange Feeling " and " Rockin
In The City " are well worth this cd. Getting cuts that
were never available is a big thrill. I have to tip my hat off
to BNO they have a lot of balls releasing all this Jimi B and
AC stuff. Great listen. Suggestion get it. |

Abraham's Children - The Set List BNO -
62306 The newest release by Abraham's Children, this one is HOT!!!
This cd is a collection of all the songs the band has been performing
to rave reviews in their most recent 2006 RED & BLACK tour.
Carefully chosen to reflect the band's journey from Bubblegum
pop to Classic Rock, the list of songs includes their all-time
favorite hits Gypsy, Thank You, Goodbye Farewell, Goddess Of
Nature, as well as the band's newer pop/rock material. With a
whopping total of 17 songs in all and a special bonus track of
the romantic ballad, Sempre, this one is a steal. AC kicks out
some high energy with songs like I Do, Maybe Tomorrow and Burning
Love. Other tracks like "Passion & Innocence" reflect
a slice of the times and life of AC lead singer and talented
songwriter Jimi Bertucci. (Some sharp musicianship can be heard
from band members, Jimi Bertucci on bass, Doug Platt on guitar,
Mike Van Steinburg on drums, and Will Hare on keyboards. |

Would Mother Approve |
|
Abraham's Children 30 - BNO 010905 This album has it all
including the kitchen sink. 30 songs some are classic some are
lost treasures that any collector would give up their sister
to own. There are songs in here I have never heard of and of
course hit after hit. I enjoyed the interview clips and some
of the comments made by, I presume Jimi or one of the band members.
Listen to " Would Mother Approve " a haunting piece
that tells the story of a fan that gets infatuated with a rock
group only to learn her mother does not approve. " Dreams
To Sea " a progressive cut that would make YES spin... all
in all this is worth having if you like to explore the depths
of AC. I can appreciate the ecletic collection of songs. This
is the cd to have. There are a couple of duds on this but overall
it stands the sands of time. Produced by BNOrecordingUSA. |

Surfin The Beat
- Shawn O'Shea -So I
sit down to check my email and decide to slip Serfin The Beat
by my old friend and ex Abies Babies guitarist Shawn O'Shea in
my drive.. His first solo cd since who knows when. Mr. O'Shea's
songs are structured like Legos, each block fits nicely into
the next. His voice on the tracks could resemble a younger what's
his name? Though "Serfin" displays a certain mature
I have been around the block a few times je ne sais qua, its
originality is sometimes lost in the shuffle of the shuffle.
The background girls known as Katy Squad are tight and slick.
Lou Reed would be so proud of them. Drummer and engineer, Gerry
Fielding, displays a requiem of sound and consistency with each
song complimenting the groove. These guys are no strangers to
recording great stuff, whether it's at the Record Plant or Gerry's
Garage. I like it, it's direct, raw and it rocks. Ingrid Lusha......read

7 Deadly
Singles. This is the latest from the the Uxbridge nouveau cast
of rockophilia. The musicians are seasoned and have had their
fifteen minutes of grandeur, somewhere in the terrain of rock..
The songs are well crafted . Brian's vocals seem a bit buried
at times and it makes it hard to make out what he is saying.
Some fine guitar licks by one Eldon Wilderman, I love to have
the drums in my face...so guys on the next one BRING THEM UP....
Although we have touches of a couple musical eras, 7 Deadly Singles
makes nice easy listening and at this point in my life I want
everything to be easy. The fav tunes for moi ears were "Unpopular
Opinion" and "Legends & Mysteries" has a nice
little hook. Ok order this cd and you tell me what you think.

Hi,I just recently came across the website of Abraham's
Children, oh the memories came flooding back to 1974 when they
played at our school Queen Elizabeth Composite High in Edmonton,
my girlfriends and I had the opportunity to meet and spend sometime
with them. It was a wonderful day and one that won't be forgotten.
I received at the time their drum cover signed by all four.(Jimi,
Brian, Ron, Bob) One of them had the nickname SquirrIey, I think
it was Brian. I kept the drum cover around for years until my
parents decided that it neeed to go once I left home. After touring
the website, I was sadden to hear about Brian, I still remember
his sense of humor and how the four of them could be the best
of friends one minute and angry the next and it was Brian who
always turned things around. When we the girls get together and
reminisce about old times, this is alway brought up, I wonder
what happened to Abraham's Children and now I can share the website
with them. This has been a great afternoon touring the website
and catching up on Abraham's Children. Carol Fort McMurray, AB

They would attract the biggest crowd ever. An estimated 50 thousands
fans would show their appreciation. The stage was rushed with
hundreds of teens before the security personal could get them

fans lined up for hours" said manager Jack Morrow. This
was the kick off to their highly acclaimed Lock Up Your Daughters

It was non-stop. The band complained that they saw so many airports,
