TALK OF THE TOWN - CONFIDENTIAL BY LOLA
- And since my editors threatened to pull my Jimi B review if
I mentioned his overwhelming physical characteristics, (more)
Toronto Center
Island 1972 This was one of the bands first big concerts and
to their surprise, the crowd went nuts. I recall these four guys
on stage with no shirts on and painted art on their chests and
faces. They reminded me of warrior indians ready for battle and
perhaps they were. They climbed on their instruments an0d began
the mighty roars of melodic thunder. I was blown away. I could
feel the energy come off that stage as if it were a raging ball
of fire. This band was hot. I was taken by the lily pad review
the Toronto Star gave them. Was the writer blind and deaf. Although
the words were kind, the reviewer missed the purpose of this
atomic fusion that we just witnessed. I have never been to a
concert with this many people, what an experience. Anyway read
what the Star had to say.The Toronto Star newspaper wrote. The
most impressive group of the day was Captain Midnite, four-man,
Toronto-based band, formerly known as Just Us. They were impressive
because they put everything they had into their music, going
from song to the next without a break never allowing the audience
to come down. Toronto Star

GUARDIANS OF HOPE DOES HELP. Hollywood, CA - As I sit in the comfort of my spacious
home nestled in the foothills, typing on my top of the line Toshiba
laptop computer, I am reminded of the short film I just previewed.
The crowd enjoyed the designer bottled water and the abundance
of well-catered food provided by The Filmmaker Series 2007, founded
by Scion. This project was created to support the emerging indie
filmmakers with a modest budget to produce original short films
on topics of their choice. "Guardians of Hope", written
and directed by Reza Moosavi who also composed the music, was
a rude awakening to the reality of the most-populated city of
homeless people in the US. In some ways I was relieved that this
was a short film. A full length feature on this emotional topic
would have surely brought tears to my eyes. In the film, Mr.
Moosavi interviews Los Angeles social workers that dedicate themselves
to making a difference. The photographs and footage captured
are disturbing as we watch an unwanted culture suffocate for
survival. I was moved to say the least and came to the realization
that perhaps we can all contribute a little more to stimulate
and support the lost souls who bed themselves on the cold concrete
of our unhumanitarian streets. Mr. Moosavi should be congratulated
and praised for his bravery in confronting this battleground
of misfortune

With a minimalist interior
design the place offers quick, fresh cuisine without the hassle
or complications of fancier restaurants. Nestled in the film
and TV production district of Toronto, the Warehouse Grill is
a great meeting place to talk about nothing and look good. Ah,
just think, you can actually enjoy a nice Marlboro after dinner.
Howard, the owner, is a trip and he should be since he's a practicing
hippie who can often be found hanging around and chatting. The
place offers live entertainment, everything from jazz to contemporary.
It's always nice knowing they have live music. Their salads are
excellent and the thin crust pizzas come with great toppings,
basically anything you desire. Yes they have lattes, caps, juices
and soft drinks and a smart ass chef named Tony...Dining Out
